Butterflies

Had three last sessions with my most "engaged" clients today
One of them wrote me the most beautiful letter ever
I totally cried, still am...
I have been working with her for quite a while, and have been honored to watch her transform from a young insecure girl to a beautiful solid young woman.
I will share some of the letter here, no names though, sorry, confidentially is sacred:
"....let me start by saying how much you have changed my life.... what you have taught me in the years that I have seen you is something that I will always remember and be thankful for. You taught me that I didn't have to be the snivelly, angry, depressed kid. That I was human. That I was allowed to make mistakes. Most importantly, you taught me that I could trust people. You are the first person I have every fully trusted. If I remember you for nothing else, I will always remember you for that. I hope you know how much that means to me. I also think you should know that you are a beautiful person, inside and out, and I hope that everyone else can see that as clearly as I can. Wherever you go, I know that you will inspire people because you have inspired me so greatly. Thank you so much for everything...."

It's amazing the impact we can have on people, if we are determined and can have patience and stick in there. She has affected me as well, inspired me, challenged me, and made me feel grateful for the blessing that is my chosen profession, that in ways sometimes I feel like has chosen me as well. She truly is a butterfly, and I have been honored for three years to be the solid tree that held her cocoon.

It has chosen you, and how lucky for the rest of us. KT commented to me that one of the things she loved about the night we spent was that she got a clearer picture of what we were like as therapists, just in the way we asked questions and made suggestions...
